Announcing the Launch of My New Podcast, "The Burning Bush: Sharing Scripture Over Cigars"

Announcing the launch of my new podcast, "The Burning Bush: Sharing Scripture Over Cigars", where we share the message of the Bible, while enjoying a good cigar. I just wanted to introduce you to the show. I had an idea that I believe God laid on my heart.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  What I'm going to be doing in this podcast is sharing Scripture and reading literature that applies to Scripture, or that allows me to share the Gospel, which is most important. The format of the show is basically this. I'm a cigar lover - and there's no sin in that - as far as I'm concerned. My Pastor years ago was Dr. Gene Scott. Some of you may have seen him on television. He was a controversial figure, but he had he had a church here in Los Angeles, which I used to attend. He passed away in 2005, and he was a cigar smoker. He used to go on television and sit in his studio, read from books and teach, and he would smoke cigars while he was doing it. He used to call his cigar a "burning bush", and I thought that was that was pretty clever!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        My plan is to share Scripture with you, share the Gospel, and maybe build a little community of people who love cigars, and who are interested in learning more about the Bible. The format of the show is fundamentally this. I'm going to share what cigar I'm smoking at the beginning of each episode, and I'll give you the notes on the cigar. I'll let you know what the brand is, what the wrappers, binders, and fillers are, etc. I'll put links in the show notes to the manufacturer's website where you can find out more information on the cigars, and then we'll delve into whatever the topic of the day is.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    So there is some background on what the show is going to be like, and where I'd like to take it. “For this project, we went back to our roots: Nicaraguan tobacco! This is a Nicaraguan puro in the Ezra Zion genre of blending. Since we are doing this for The Lord, it had to be the best work we could possibly do!” added Chris Kelly.

 The Blessed Leaf Kairos is a 52 x 6.25 box press. The wrapper is Corojo 99 Rosado. The filler includes ligeros from Esteli and Jalapa. Total production is 4000 cigars of 100 boxes and 5 packs.

The Blessed Leaf Kairos is produced at the Casa Fernandez factory in Miami, Florida.

“We chose the name Kairos because of it’s unique meaning to this project. Kairos is defined as a specific moment in time when the Divine intervenes directly into your life. To us, there is a duel application. Obviously, as a person smokes the cigar they will have a “heavenly” smoking experience. Secondly, that the support raised for Christian missions will impact people’s lives with the gospel of Christ.” added Hoover.

Kyle Hoover, co-owner of Ezra Zion Cigar Company and CigarFederation.com, announces the launch of a new cigar-themed Christian ministry, Blessed Leaf.

“Blessed Leaf is a unique idea, something that has never been done before. It’s a faith community–or in more basic terms–an “online church” for cigar smokers.” noted Hoover.

On BlessedLeaf.com, aficionados can create a profile page to join the Blessed Leaf community. Members can post content, access media, read faith-based articles and cigar reviews designed to strengthen them in their Christian walk.

“I know two things: The Bible and cigars. This is the culmination of a dream to bring those two passions together. My prayer is that this is a catalyst for cigar enthusiasts to become closer to Jesus, whether they have a relationship with Him now or not.” Hoover continued.

My "Convict Conditioning" Progress - Support Press - Step 1 (Close Grip)

I have finally met the Progression Standard for the close grip Support Press, which is the final phase of Step One of the Press Flag progression from "Convict Conditioning 2" by Paul "Coach" Wade. With the Support Press, you start out using a wide grip and gradually move the hand on the vertical bar closer to the horizontal bar. I started out with 5 second sets and worked up to 10 seconds before moving the grip in closer. Once you can hold the close grip for 10 seconds, it's on to Step Two.

This is actually the second day of doing 10 second holds. I am going to stay at this step in the progression until the 10 second hold becomes easy and second nature. This is a very difficult hold for me, and I have a lot of discomfort in my shoulder joints while performing it. I don't want to move too quickly and try to progress before I am ready. Patience is key. Listen to your body!
