Prophetic Misconceptions

By
Wickus

Over the past year I have become aware of some misconceptions in prophetic circles that might blind some people to what is happening around us. I might step on some toes, but my intention is not to divide, but to help people to rely on the Word only and not on someone’s opinion of what the Word is saying on some prophecies. I might add that there are prophecies that will only be clear once we see the fulfillment and it is not a bad thing to speculate on how they might be fulfilled, we must never form a such a strong opinion about it that we are blinded when it is happening before us.

As I always state, the people in Jesus time were blind because they could not see the prophecies fulfilled in Christ right before their eyes. They had their opinion of what the prophecies said and were so misled that they rejected Him. We have no guarantee that we are any different in these times.
I am just going to deal with two misconceptions and show you the truth out of the Word. On these two points we have a lot of sincere Christians that are not seeing what is happening around them.

Misconception One

This is what we read on a lot of well meaning prophecy websites:

In Bible prophecy, particularly Daniel 9:26-27, we’re told that a prince (or leader) of Roman descent is going to confirm (or make strong) a seven-year covenant of peace in the Middle East between Israel and her enemies. The leader who will confirm this peace, when it ultimately occurs, will be the prophesied Antichrist.

How many of you see the error? Read the actual verse and see if you see it:

Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm a covenant with the many for one week. And in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. And on a corner of the altar will be abominations that desolate, even until the end. And that which was decreed shall pour out on the desolator.

Where does it say that it will be a peace covenant? Nowhere in the Bible does it state that Antichrist will make a PEACE covenant with Israel. That is clearly a speculation that is held as truth and can lead us to miss the truth. We currently have the European Neighborhood Policy, which is in effect from 2007-2013 that is a seven year confirmation of the Barcelona Process of 1995 with many nations, including Israel, but it is totally overlooked. How will we know if this is the covenant and who Antichrist is? Listen to Jesus:

Mar 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judea flee to the mountains:

We will only be sure when we are in the middle of the week. If we are looking for a seven year peace covenant, we might just be caught off guard.

Misconception Two

The timespan of the tribulation according to popular prophecy websites:

The Bible outlines a seven-year Tribulation Period, not a 3 1/2 year one. Daniel’s prophecy tells us 70 weeks or periods of seven years are determined against Israel.

What is the error here? It is true that 70 weeks of 7 years are determined for Israel, but is the whole 70th week or 7 years the tribulation period? Let me guide you to the Word:

Mar 13:14 But when ye see the abomination of desolation standing where he ought not (let him that readeth understand), then let them that are in Judaea flee unto the mountains:
Mar 13:19-20 For those days shall be tribulation, such as there hath not been the like from the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never shall be. And except the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh would have been saved; but for the elect’s sake, whom he chose, he shortened the days.

When does this happen? In the middle of the week or in the beginning of the last 3 1/2 years. That is when the tribulation will start and that is what Jesus said. Let’s confirm with another verse:

Rev 13:4-7 and they worshipped the dragon, because he gave his authority unto the beast; and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? And who is able to war with him? and there was given to him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and there was given to him authority to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth for blasphemies against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, even them that dwell in the heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and there was given to him authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation.

For how long does the beast have authority to make war against the saints? 42 months or 3 1/2 years. How long does he have authority over tribes and nations? 42 months or 3 1/2 years. Again I can not find Scriptural reference to a 7 year tribulation. The final 7 years is known as the Time of Jacob’s trouble, but the tribulation only 3 1/2 years.

Now I have said enough. Study the Bible to see if it is true. Don’t take any man’s word for it, take God’s Word for it.

God bless you all.
